The Hide

We have a superb purpose-built badger hide in the Ribble Valley - this lets you view and study badgers and their fluffy little cubs in relative comfort. The hide gives an excellent view of a large and very active badger sett.

Open for supervised visits in spring, summer and autumn evenings, this is a superb facility which allows Members and their families to watch badgers (and badger cubs) in relative comfort.

At the hide you can watch badgers and be entertained by their feeding, scratching and general playing and scampering about. For many people this is a magical experience.

Suitable for adults and well-behaved (i.e. quiet and still) older children, the hide is located across a field and on the edge of a hidden woodland.

We reckon that badgers are about 97% certain to be seen on every visit. In past years the badgers have been very reliable in their appearances, allowing members to see and experience a superb wildlife experience.

It is possible, by prior arrangement, to use the hide for photography (including making videos and by wildlife photographers).

Because of the position of the hide, access is by a rough track and wheelchair access is very difficult. In the fullness of time, we hope to obtain Lottery funding to improve this. However, please contact hide@lancashirebadgergroup.org.uk if you have limited mobility, as we will try to help.
