Training Days
We run a hands-on badger training day at least once a year. At these days
we start off with a multi-media presentation where we show you all about
badgers and what they sound like. These are designed to be of interest to new
members (covering the badger "basics"), but include information of interest to
more experienced members and naturalists. Out of the
classroom, we head off
into the countryside to look for badger signs. We normally find setts,
footprints, hair, scratch marks and latrines.
We cover signs which may be confused with badgers; and assess
whether hair is from a badger or a fox or a rabbit; or whether tree marks are
from deer or badgers.
As
well as teaching you all about badgers, these courses are very useful as they
will really help you find out where badgers are and how you can watch and
photograph or video them.
These friendly and accessible courses are free for members. Some-one who has
been on one of our training days should finish the day with enough experience
and knowledge to be able to survey an area of land and establish whether badgers
are present in that area. If you would be interested in attending one of our
training days, please Contact Us.
These popular training days are usually booked up very quickly
by our members! |
