What We Do
As a Member of the
Badger Trust, we are dedicated to the conservation
and enjoyment of the Badger in the county of Lancashire in England. Here is some
of the things we do:
- We publish a regular Newsletter about what we do, and what
issues affect badgers across the UK.
- We provide information about the badger and education to members of the
public.
- We do Talks to schools, colleges and community groups to explain about
what badgers look and sound like and how they live their lives. We also have
preserved examples of badgers for people to look at if they have never seen one.
- We provide a householder service, to advise gardeners who have badgers
in their gardens.
- We provide a consultancy service, advising property
developers, local authorities and other large organisations how to
safeguard the interests of badgers and remain within the law.
- We keep a register of badger setts, to help keep badgers
safe and their homes protected. This also helps keep Lancashire "green", rather than
being covered in concrete, buildings or
roads.
- We provide a Badger Survey service - providing information from our
database, as well as looking for badger evidence on the ground. We do
this for a very modest fee.
- We liaise with
Lancashire Police as expert
witnesses if criminals damage setts, injure or kill badgers or
commit other animal-related crime. We support
the Prosecution of wildlife criminals.
- We also have a Badger Hide in the heart
of the countryside, so members can watch badgers in summer evenings.
All in all, we think that we provide a friendly value-for-money way to
protect badgers and to help members enjoy watching them. |
