AGM 2015

[lead]This year’s AGM will be held on Saturday 28th March at Samlesbury War Memorial Hall, Cuerdale Road, Samlesbury, Preston, PR5 0UY from 5.30pm. [/lead]

This year we are focusing on two key issues affecting badgers. The first and by far the most pressing in our area at least is persecution. Our main guest speaker therefore is Ian Hutchison. Ian is a retired police officer and wildlife liaison officer  and for over 15 years he has represented Scottish Badgers as their species protection officer. He is also the crime prevention lead for Operation Meles an intelligence led operation targeting badger persecution as part of the UK Wildlife Crime Priorities. Ian was given the UK Partnership Against Wildlife Crime partner of the year award for 2013.

Last year we also had a shorter section with a science theme and having heard about some recent research on badger and tb in the Cheshire area we felt it was important to hear about it. Our additional guest speaker then is Elsa Sandoval-Barron from the University of Liverpool, who is going to give us some background on her research as a PhD student working with Professor Malcolm Bennett. The results of their work could have implications for badgers in Lancashire so it’s certainly well worth hearing from her.

We’d love you to come along and hear about our work over the last year and the issues affecting our badgers.

We are holding a raffle as usual,  tickets available on the night. There will also be an auction.

Member Display

We’d like to invite members with photo’s or videos of badgers to share their work on a display board for others to see (please email agm@lancashirebadgergroup.org.uk).

Supper

We will again be providing a hot supper at a modest cost.  It is vital that we know how many people want to have supper and therefore you must book supper in advance  if you want to eat! Note there is a small fee for booking online.

If you do not want supper you do not need to book, but there is a donation option if you would like to help with the cost of the hall. Please include your membership number in the notes section when you book your supper.

Or send your form before 21st March 2015 with payment (made payable to us) to:
