Covid-19 Update on our work
We wanted to let you know that Lancashire Badger Group is still here for badgers during this difficult period, but of course we also need to look after our volunteers and keep in mind the safety of members of the public. To that end, we have looked carefully at our services and will not be able to carry some out during this time.
Our online shop will be closed for the next three weeks, and we will reassess the situation on an ongoing basis. We’re sorry that we won’t be able to take orders during that period, but of course we cannot ask volunteers to go to the post office.
During the lockdown period, we will also be unable to visit sites and meet with you. We will continue to provide information, advice and support by telephone, but sometimes it may take us longer to respond. We apologise in advance for this, please mark your email urgent if you are worried about badgers.
It will be difficult for us to check on RTC dead badgers – we ask that if it is safe to stop, please take a photo of the badger (ideally its tummy) for us and send it when you report it’s whereabouts. This will help us to determine whether it may be a lactating sow (female with young) and needs further investigation.
If you have an emergency relating to badgers, we are still providing emergency support. In the first instance we normally ask you to call the RSPCA. However, we know they may be under additional pressure at this time. If they cannot help quickly, please do call us and we will try to send help.
We ask that if you do call us out to an emergency, you please respect social distancing measures and remain 2 m away from our volunteer at all times.
Many thanks for your understanding. Stay safe.
